19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial championship since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.
The win also means he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an improved serve.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.
The pair swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.
He rescued 4 initial opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
